Gerber Life vs. Royal Neighbors: What policies do they offer?

Gerber Life and Royal Neighbors offer term life, whole life, and final expense insurance options. Royal Neighbors also offers universal life insurance. Understanding the specifics of their policies will help you determine which company has the right policy for you.

Gerber Life offers term life insurance quotes in 10, 20, and 30-year terms. The value of these policies ranges from $100,000 to $300,000. Only those over the age of 50 require a medical exam.

The whole life policies offered by Gerber Life are dependent on the age of the insured. Child policies can be converted into adult policies, allowing a person to be insured for essentially their entire lifetime.

The Gerber Life Grow-Up Plan is the company’s child policy. Parents, grandparents, and other legal guardians can purchase the policy for a child between 14 days and 14 years old. The policy value is between $5,000 and $50,000 and doubles when the child turns 18.

If a guardian wishes to purchase a policy after the child turns 15, there is a teenage plan for 15- to 17-year-olds. This plan is similar to the Grow-Up Plan, as the child can become the sole policyholder at 21 years of age.

Gerber Life adult plans start at the age of 18 and range from $50,000 to $300,000 in value. Child plans can be converted into adult plans at 18 years of age. Again, only those 51 or older at the time of purchase require a medical exam.

In addition to its life insurance policies, Gerber Life also offers final expense insurance for seniors. These policies are available for those between 50 and 80 years of age and coverage ranges from $5,000 to $25,000.

Royal Neighbors of America offers term life insurance in 15, 20, and 30-year terms. These policies are available for those between the ages of 18 and 65. The coverage of these policies ranges from $50,000 to $5 million. These policies can be renewed until the age of 90.

Similar to Gerber Life, Royal Neighbors offers whole life policies based on age. The Youth Essential Life policy is a child plan for those 17 years and younger with a minimum coverage amount of $10,000.

The Essential Life plan is an adult plan for those 18 to 65 years of age. Featuring a minimum coverage amount of $25,000, the youth plan can be converted into an adult plan when the child turns 18.

In addition to traditional whole life plans, Royal Neighbors also offers a single-premium whole life policy, called the Royal Legacy Life Plan. Available for those between 45 and 80 years of age, this policy is designed to be an estate-planning tool.

Royal Neighbors offers two types of universal life insurance. The cash value focused policy is available up to 85 years of age and the guaranteed death benefits policy is available for those 75 years or younger.

The provider’s final expense insurance is available for those between 50 and 85 years of age and coverage ranges from $5,000 to $25,000. The policy doesn’t require a medical exam but applicants must complete a medical questionnaire. Those looking for burial insurance must complete a two-year waiting period.
